The latest border design of Adsense is in my opinion greatly improved than just a square box design. It also improves corner background design for text ads by adsense which already looks as curly tab earlier.

I like using adsense with light bachground since it looks blended with light color themes which I’m always using. You can use those background only if they integrate well with the site’s basic layout.
