Group Health Insurance
17 July 2007Commonly we get our health insurance through our employer. Almost all employers these days providing some kind of “group” health insurance plan for their employees. These insurance plans can cover yourself, your spouse, and your family, obviously it’s depending on particular company policy. However offering insurance coverage for more than just yourself apparently increases the monthly premium, but it offers a huge benefit.
You can get a group health insurance by contacting the resources department of your company. For a long term benefit you should be able to buy into the group health insurance plan at any time during your employment. If you leave an employer for any reason, you can still referring to the COBRA law to get group health insurance with your previous employer’s health insurance coverage. The COBRA law is a government act that allows you to continue coverage under your previous employer. If you had coverage for your entire family, COBRA will allow you to continue this full coverage for a certain period of time.
If you still don’t have any kind of group health insurance plan at the moment, try asking to your human resources department about it. If they offering these plan, then you can consider to change your health insurance plan.
