Blog Publishing in Easy Way
This Blog is created less than a week starting from basic preparation. I was thinking about main motivation and topic of this Blog. Because it’s worth to share my knowledge with you via a Blog then my decision is to write all of my thoughts and hoping this Blog could give you some benefit. Some people might think that Multimedia presentation will gain more attention rather than only by text, thats why they chose to publish their Video Blog or Podcast. But for myself the traditional way i.e. Text Blog way is a good choice. Text Blog has advantages for small Hosting Server because it contains only text with small number of pictures thus it will transfer small amount of data from the hosting server to your computer.
My experience in Blog Publishing is not much because I just started publishing less than 2 months ago my first blog with Sub Domain Name and Blog Server hosted by Blogger.com. Blog Hosting services from Blogger is provided free of charge. You could have one easily but it has limited option to customize your Blog and it doesn’t meet with my Blog demand, therefore it was urgent to consider of owning a private domain name and a Hosting for my Blog.
Before starting I make a list of requirements for this Blog.
- Blog Domain name
- Blog Hosting
- Blog Software
- FTP Client
- Main Contents of My Blog
Blog Domain Name
A Domain Name is more preferred over free service Sub Domain like Blog spot or Blog some or another free Blog services because it looks more professional and fit with my needs. My Blog Domain Name i.e Daily-Thought is more or less matches with contents of this Blog and this Domain Name was available. A good Domain Name would be as short as possible but remain descriptive for you. Another possibility is choosing a branding Domain Name that has nothing to do with the subject you are writing about. For example with Domain Name Google or Yahoo. Your Domain Name ideally consists of 5-15 characters, though around 250.000 Domain exist that use 32 or more letters for their Domain Name. But if Domain Name gets to long you will have troubles remembering it and it is harder to brand your Domain Name.
Blog Hosting
This part was a little bit complicated because it has several factors to consider before deciding where my Blog will finally Hosted. The main consideration was on service reliability that must have 99% up-time with a good after sales service. It will be useless to write a Blog but the Web Server mostly down. I was searching information on Google by using keyword Web | Hosting | Blog and also asking to some people on theirBlog or Mailing List. You can also find this information on Internet Magazines or Blog reviewing on Web Hosting. Second consideration was price and bandwidth it simply because I don’t want to pay more for a useless service. About 1000 visitors come every day on my Blog that consume 1-2 GB Bandwidth a day is still far away for me and I prefer a lower bandwidth with cheaper service price, though I keep in my head that someday it is necessary to upgrade my Blog hosting bandwidth capacity. BlueHost or HostGator maybe become my Blog Hosting in the future because they offers good quality Hosting with a huge bandwidth, even they offers a hosting package that fits to your need as Blog publisher and their price is reasonable for a starter Hosting package. Indeed there are many other Web Hosting with various Hosting Package and price
This Blog cost me less than 30$ for Blog Domain Name and Hosting Service. My Blog is hosted at jh.web.id and it’s customer service is good during setup phase. My Domain Name setup takes time around 20 minutes because I registered on different Domain Name registrar and it requires DNS registration on the Web server. If you want a simple way you can buy Hosting service and also registering Domain Name on single company.
Blog Software
I chose Wordpress as my Blog Software simply because many people use it for their Blog and I like it’s customization. It simply meet with my need but you might consider another Blog Software as well. Setting Wordpress is really not a big problem Just download the newest build from the Official Website and unpack it to your hard drive, just as simple as 1-2-3 but I will explain more detailed about setting my Wordpress Blog on Part 2 of this Article.
FTP Client
After your Blog Domain Name and Blog Web Hosting ready, you need a FTP Client Software to transfer Wordpress from your computer to the Hosting Server. I use FileZilla for uploading my Wordpress and it takes about 15 minutes only because of a short break on my Internet Connection. If you have Broadband Internet at home it should takes less time than me.
Main Contents of My Blog
I considered this as a crucial issue because defining a certain topics on my Blog will help me to write in the future and obviously will help you to find what you need easily. Hundreds of thousands of Blogs is published and this my Blog will be part of it, therefore I will focus on this topic i.e. Daily Life Experience as a record of my life and also to share it with you. If you still don’t have a Blog why not starting to make one, then I can visit your blog as well.
