How To Redeem Your Gift Certificate On Dreamhost

When you receive a gift certificate on Dreamhost you can redeem it according to it’s amount. Recently I received a gift certificate from Cosa Aranda and I redeemed it for a new domain name. Since I don’t have account on Dreamhost, I have to create a new one. I will describe what I did to get a new domain name by redeeming a gift certificate on dreamhost.

First step is navigate to sign up page because you have to create a new account here. Click sign up now on the left-bar menu. You will see several choices of hosting plan. But chose plan level 0 to register a domain name only. Select also automatic rebill once a year, since the gift certificate credit is only for 1 year. Don’t forget to select radio button register a new domain for free.

Scroll down the page and fill all forms of your personal information, including email address and your password. Don’t forget to opt out I agree to abide by Dreamhost TOS. Then click Continue to Secure Payment.

The next page is about payment. You are now charged $ 9.95 for 1 year contract of Level 0 option. Let’s navigate down page until you see Pay via Gift Certificate. Copy your Gift Certificate code and paste it on this form. Then click Redeem Gift Certificate Now.

The page will immediately changed and you have to re-login to Dreamhost panel with your email address and password. Meanwhile you will receive an approval email for your account creation as well as it’s payment receipt.

At this point, you still don’t have a domain name, but you have one chance to get free domain registration. You can create a domain name of your choice by clicking on left-bar menu Domains >> Registrations. The page will change and you can check your favorite name’s availability. If this name is available you can continue to register it. Double check your typo since it’s only one chance registration and it’s non refundable. If all checked then click register now. Voila your domain name is registered.
