The ultimate target for Blog publisher like me is receiving a huge traffic stream of visitor. No matter where it comes either from search engine or from social network, but it should come anyway. Because only with visitor your Blog can achieve all target intended before. If nobody reading your Blog instead of you then it will be useless to open it for public. Perhaps you can just make it private. But if you intended to share your experience… then increasing traffic is a must to do.
However for a new Bloger, increasing traffics is the first big challenge to overcome before success in Blogsphere. I know many people write about Increasing Traffic on their Blog including Steve Paulina. I cited several points from his article about Building a High Traffic Website (or Blog):
- Create valuable content.
- Create original content.
- Create timeless content.
- just focus on genuinely helping people, and the rest will take care of itself.
Those are good tips to build your content, but I think doing that tips only is not enough you should also market those content before someone become aware of your Blog and start visiting. From this point social networking is taking their jobs.
If I looked at this Blog visitor’s statistic. I realized that My Daily Thoughts is not a Blog for visitor who are looking for something at Google search, or Yahoo search. Indeed several visitor come from Google or Yahoo search results, but bigger portion of visitors comes from social networking.
As I join several social network, apparently all of those network gives me visitors. Including you now, thanks for visiting this Blog. I will explain about three network I have followed that mainly gives this Blog traffic:
MyBlogLog
This is my first social network I have joined for this Blog. In my opinion this is a vibrant group with a big number of members. The member is actively visiting each other and new member is keep coming. A very nice feature of this network is possibility to leave your trace on every member Blogs you have visited, so the owner will be aware of your visit as well as their guests, and they could visit back to your Blog because of it. Since this trace relies on your avatar, the image you use for your avatar will affecting more or less on the visitor’s curiosity. A prominent image or a picture of a beautiful lady will definitely attract visitor from this network to your Blog. But it also depend on your activity to visit other’s Blog as well. If you actively and regularly visiting many Blog then you will receive almost the same amount of visitor on your Blog.
Blog Explosion
This network works a little bit different with MyBlogLog. In this network your publicity is measured by credit points. The higher points your Blog has, the more publicity it will receive. If you joint, you will receive credit directly. 1 credit equal to 1 visitor, so if you have 30 credits that means 30 visitor will come to your Blog even though they are not visiting your Blog in a single occasion. It could be today, next week, or maybe next month, but they come anyway. You can also increasing your credits by visiting other member Blogs. Link referral
This is my latest network I have joined at the moment. It similar to Blog explosion in term of receiving credit for your activity. But it appears more or less like a web directory. The member are encouraged to give 5 review and make one posting on their forum as well as visiting 30 web to keep your Blog on the top section of directory for free, but if you don’t have time to do that you can use premium option. Yet I use free option for this Blog since I can manage doing that regularly. This network is really give you immediate traffic to your Blog as they said. My server log indicated that traffic comes from this network directly on the same day I was joint this network.
