(Part 2) How I Create My Daily Thought Blog
2 February 2007Wordpress Instalation
Here I explains further about setting My Wordpress software on the Hosting Server. But before doing “on server job” I have search themes and plugins for Wordpress. You can find it on Wordpress.org or just Googling out and you can choose some themes that match with yours. You also need some Wordpress plugins to help you maintains your Blog easily, for Wordpress ver 2.1 here is the plugin list.
For this Blog I take several plugins which important for me.
- Sidebar Widgets to maintains my sidebar in drag-and-drop style
- Google XML Sitemap to create sitemap for my Blog
- Other Post From Cat to add other posting Title form same Category
- Math Comment Spam Protection reducing spam on comment by giving easy math challenge for you
- Akismet tools to reduce spam too
- Adsense Injection great tools to randomize Adsense form and position on your Blog
- del.icio.us widget add-on widget for sidebar
- Ultimate Tag Warrior to display your Tags in a fancy look
As I mention in Part 1, I have downloaded Wordpress ver 2.1 on my computer and extract it using 7 zip. If you do that you will find folder Wordpress, this is main folder of your Blog. You can navigate to wp-content sub folder and you can find two folders themes and plugins, in this subfolder you will extract your Wordpress Plugins and Themes of your choice. Now we are ready to upload it to Hosting Server, Before doing that I have to edit one file that is called wp-config-sample.php. with a text editor.
Line 3 to 6 define the database information of my Hosting Server. Wordpress uses a MySQL database to store the articles, comments and other information. the strings need to edit are username, database and probably localhost. Everything else remains as is. I save the file as wp-config.php and upload everything to my Hosting Server using FileZilla.
Now, the on site jobs begins. The first page I access on My Blog is http://mydomainname/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php and it guides me through out instalation process. Voilá my Blog is ready and I can start writing articles now.
I hope you can enjoy my experience.
